Rick's ex-lover who left him in Paris 2. Married to Victor Laszlo c. Ugarte 1. Has letters of transit and brings them to Rick's cafe 2. Police catch him 3. Rick hides the letters d. Victor Laszlo 1. Resistance leader 2. Tried to meet Ugarte to buy letters of transit 3. Escaped from Nazi concentration camp III. Rising Action a. Ilsa Lund goes to Rick's cafe with her husband 1. Ilsa recognizes the piano player and asks him to play 'As Time Goes By' 2. Rick finds out that Ilsa is married to Laszlo b. Laszlo and Ilsa plan to go to America c. Laszlo finds out that Rick has the letters of transit IV. Climax a. Laszlo tries to get the letters but Rick doesnt give them to him b. Laszlo and the rest of the cafe overpower the German officers by singing a song 2. German officers make Rick to close down his cafe d. Ilsa tries to get the letters from Rick 1. Rick knows she won't shoot him because she loves him 2. Flashback - Ilsa tells Rick that she thought Laszlo had been killed when they fell in love 3. When Rick and Ilsa were going to leave Paris, Ilsa found out that Laszlo was alive and left Rick waiting V. Falling Action a. Rick tells Ilsa that he will help her 1. Isla and Rick are in his office 2. Laszo comes to the cafe to talk to Rick about him and Ilsa and tries to persaude Rick to give him the letters c. Police arrest Laszlo 1. Rick tells police to wait until Laszlo has the letters to make an arrest with a greater charge VI. Conclusion a. Police try to arrest Laszlo as they had planned, but Rick threatens to shoot and lets Ilsa and Laszlo get away b. Rick makes Ilsa leave with Laszlo 1. Ilsa is forced and later convinced. c. German officers arrive and Rick kills the lead officer d. Rick and police officer become friends and walk off
